The Delaware Beaches are surrounded by natural beauty between the vast Atlantic Ocean and white sandy beaches. Of course, the beaches are one of the main highlights of the area, however, the beautiful trails are not to be overlooked. Check out the list below to find the best trails.

  • James Farm Ecological Preserve Loop Trail: Taking about 30 minutes to explore, this trail is absolutely beautiful. There is a combination of boardwalk and natural surfaces. With lookout points aligning with the marsh, make sure to bring binoculars to check out the area’s wildlife. 
  • Assawoman Canal Trail: Explore this 2-mile out-and-back in Ocean View. This trail is short and leisurely, ideal for walking or riding bikes. Enjoy a variety of foliage while walking the Assawoman canal and surrounding residential areas. You could even hop on a kayak or paddleboard to explore the canal on the water. 
  • Prickly Pear Trail: This trail offers a 3.5-mile loop with a mixed surface of boardwalks, crushed fine stone, and natural surface. Explore the open meadows, young hardwood, and pine forests. Enjoy views of the Indian River Bay. This trial is ideal for hiking, biking, or even horseback riding. 
  • Burton’s Island Loop: Surrounded by marshland and wooded areas, Burton’s Island takes about 25 minutes. With unbeatable views of the bay and wetlands, this one should not be missed. Stop by the overlook of the Indian River bridge
